Before you start
Make sure your Mentra Live is turned on and paired with your phone. You'll need the Mentra app open with Mentra AI running, and microphone permission enabled.
Using AI
- Turn on your Mentra Live by pressing the power button for 2 seconds
- Open the Mentra app on your phone
- Start Mentra AI from the Mentra app
- Say "Hey Mentra" followed by your question or request (for example: "Hey Mentra, what time is it?")
- Keep your phone nearby to maintain a stable connection
- Listen for the AI's audio response through the speakers
Tips for better results
- Use short, direct phrases instead of long sentences
- Speak clearly and at a normal volume
- Reduce background noise when possible — wind and traffic can interfere
- If you don't get a response, repeat your request more clearly
Privacy reminder
AI features only activate when you intentionally trigger them with "Hey Mentra." Your glasses do not record everything you say. Nothing is being saved, and we are not storing any pictures or text. You can turn off AI features completely in the Mentra app settings.
If AI isn't responding
- Check that Mentra AI is running in the Mentra app
- Confirm microphone permission is enabled in your phone's settings
- Restart the Mentra app and try again
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on, then reconnect
- Move to a quieter environment if background noise is high
If the issue persists, contact Mentra support with your phone model and operating system version.
